Edmonton is a city that has something for everyone. For families seeking an active lifestyle, Edmonton has limitless options. For people fond of history, archeology, science or sport, it’s got that, too.
But our city has done a lot of maturing these last few years, and one area that has exploded in the last decade is the luxury lifestyle sector. We’ve watched as new and interesting environments for play, shopping and dining have cropped up throughout the city.
So the Paranych Luxury Team has put their heads together to think up the top 5 luxurious things we like to do in Edmonton for those people eager for the a taste of what Edmonton’s upscale lifestyle might offer them.
1. Accommodations – The Fairmont MacDonald Hotel 10065 100 St NW, Edmonton
The ‘Hotel Mac’ is one of western Canada’s most recognizable landmarks. Nestled on the edge of Edmonton’s River Valley, its visual importance is only bested by its historical importance. From dining to events and conferences, to luxurious spas and patio cocktails, the MacDonald Hotel is and Edmonton luxury mainstay.
2. Dining – Zinc Restaurant, 99 Street and 102 Avenue.
Zinc’s modern look and sophisticated menu will appeal to many luxury diners. But the view can also be interesting, as the two-storey windows overlook the Winspear Centre. It’s easy to catch a glimpse of the crowd as they make their way to the Symphony. Their wine collection is impressive and their seasonal seven-course meal is a city highlight.
3. Shopping – Simons (for him and her), West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton
Simons brings a piece of belle Montreal to Edmonton. Featuring exquisite fashions for men and women (priced from moderate to luxury), Simons offers Edmonton high fashion flavour that’s as flexible as you want to be.
4. Driving – October 15th Luxury Test Drive and Networking, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Lexus South Pointe, 100 St. SW
Accountants and their many colleagues will dine and network, testing out the best that Lexus can provide. Events like this go on throughout the year in Edmonton, so it’s good to keep an eye out for the group that best suits your profession!
5. Viewing – Columbia Ice Field and Glacier Walk, Rocky Mountains, Alberta
Yes, it’s not exactly luxury (at $109/person, it’s quite affordable), and it’s certainly not in Edmonton. But this is a once in a lifetime experience. Walking the glaciers in the Rockies is as Albertan as you can get. It’s a three-hour drive west, but the anticipation will make the viewing and learning experience unforgettable.
Edmonton has a lot more going on than we’ve listed, and we encourage you to look around and get a sense of what’s out there. You can find reviews and tidbits about events in magazines like Avenue Edmonton.
Either way, we wish you the best of luck with your pursuits of Edmonton luxury. If you have any questions about luxury homes in Edmonton, or if you’re planning to sell a luxury home, get in touch with us. We’d love to have a conversation!
